JOB DESCRIPTION: Media Coordinator


POSITION: Media Coordinator

                     *In North Carolina, the library media coordinator may be identified by a variety of titles, such as librarian, 

                       library teacher or media coordinator.

 

REPORTS TO: Principal and Media Supervisor

 

SALARY: State Salary Schedule commensurate with degree, certification and experience

 

SUPERVISES: Coordinates and directs the activities of school library media support personnel including library media assistants, technical assistants, student assistants, and volunteers.

 

 

NATURE OF WORK: 

To provide the leadership and instructional resources and services for implementation of a school library media program that serves as an integral part of a student-centered educational process.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Additional Duties may be assigned.

Planning and implementing for teaching and learning

Planning and implementing for information access, evaluation and use.

Planning and implementing for program administration

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

 

Language Skills - Ability to read, analyze and interpret periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups, parents and the general public.

 

Mathematical Skills - Ability to work with methods related to budgeting, student accounting, personnel and technology.

 

Reasoning Ability - Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.

 

Other - Ability to apply knowledge of current issues and trends in special education. Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with students, staff and the community. The ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk and use fingers, tools, or controls. The employee is occasionally required to stand and reach with hands and arms. Specific visual abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and depth perception. Occasionally the employee will lift up to 50 lbs. such as to lift files and paper.
